In a remarkable show of unity and political consciousness, a prominent student group in Ikire, the Lere Students Movement, has officially endorsed the re-election bid of Ademola Adeleke while also declaring unwavering support for the second term ambition of Lere Oyewumi.
The endorsement was made during the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, a significant occasion marked by joy and reflection, where students gathered alongside the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District. The event was described as historic, reflecting the growing confidence of young people in the current leadership across the state.
In their address, the students emphasized that governance is fundamentally about performance, noting that Governor Adeleke has demonstrated effective and impactful leadership. They highlighted several developmental strides witnessed in Ikire, including road construction, improved access to potable water through motorised boreholes, rehabilitation of healthcare centres, and the construction of educational facilities. According to the group, these interventions have directly improved the quality of life of the people.
The students further stated that the people of Ikire recognize and appreciate the Governor’s efforts, affirming that supporting his second term bid has become a collective priority. They stressed that the community remains committed to sustaining the progress achieved under his administration.
Speaking on the performance of Senator Oyewumi, the group commended his representation, noting that his contributions across Osun West have restored confidence and brought tangible development to the district. They expressed their full backing for his re-election in 2027, describing him as a leader who has delivered beyond expectations.
“As a body of students and future leaders, we will not allow any form of setback for Ikire. We remain committed to supporting leaders who have demonstrated capacity and delivered results,” the group stated, reaffirming their allegiance to both Governor Adeleke and Senator Oyewumi.
In his response, Senator Oyewumi expressed deep appreciation for the endorsement, describing it as a true demonstration of love and commitment to the growth of Ikire Kingdom. He noted that the students’ action reflects a desire for the continuity of good governance and pledged to remain steadfast in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
The Lere Students Movement concluded by reiterating their resolve to continue supporting the administration of Governor Adeleke, whom they described as a performing leader whose achievements have surpassed expectations.
