The Kujenlayo Youth Descendants’ Union (KYDU), a non-governmental organisation based in Ikire representing youths from the five ruling houses of Disamu, Ladekan, Lambeloye, Onisokan, and Aketula, has reaffirmed its commitment to educational development by successfully rolling out a free JAMB scholarship programme, fully sponsored by High Chief Ademola Abdul-Wasiu Abdulsalam Ajanaku. The initiative, which aims to prepare young minds for a brighter future, recently culminated in a comprehensive coaching exercise alongside a mock examination designed to test students’ readiness.
Recognising the competitive and demanding nature of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, KYDU organised an intensive free coaching programme for beneficiaries. The initiative was tailored to equip students with the necessary knowledge, confidence, and examination strategies required to excel in the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Speaking during the closing session, the Chairman of the KYDU Committee on Education, Prince Akinropo Alabi Oyebami, emphasised that the union’s vision is to reorient young people towards education and discourage social vices. He noted that investing in education remains a strategic pathway to curbing thuggery and promoting a peaceful and progressive community. According to him, “A well-educated youth is more focused on achieving success and less likely to engage in acts that threaten societal harmony.”
Prince Oyebami also commended the dedication of the tutors who is teaching the students during the coaching sessions, applauding their professionalism and commitment to impactful teaching. He further expressed gratitude to the programme’s sponsor, Chief Ademola Abdul-Wasiu Ajanaku, whose support and passion for education made the initiative a reality.
In his remarks, Prince Olanrewaju Monsuru highlighted that KYDU’s activities extend beyond education, noting that the union is actively involved in health, sports, sensitisation campaigns, and other developmental programmes aimed at improving the overall well-being of the community.
On behalf of the tutors, Mr. Oladele Ogundare expressed confidence in the students’ preparedness, stating that their active participation and impressive performance during the coaching sessions are strong indicators of outstanding results in the upcoming JAMB examination. He described the opportunity provided by KYDU as rare and invaluable, urging students to make the most of it.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Asafa Kosiyat expressed deep appreciation to KYDU for the initiative, assuring the union that the students would not take the opportunity for granted. She noted that the programme has laid a solid foundation for their academic success and future aspirations.
The KYDU JAMB scholarship initiative stands as a testament to the power of community-driven development, reinforcing the importance of education as a tool for personal growth and societal advancement.
