The ancient city of Ibadan has been thrown into mourning following the passing of its revered traditional ruler, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland. The monarch reportedly passed away at the age of 90.
Though official palace sources are yet to release full details of his demise, reliable insiders confirmed that the monarch breathed his last earlier today, marking the end of a significant chapter in Ibadan’s traditional history.
Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland after the passing of his predecessor. A man known for his wisdom, humility, and dedication to the growth and peace of Ibadanland, the late monarch was deeply respected not only by the people of Ibadan but across Yoruba land.
Until his death, Oba Olakulehin was a stabilizing figure in Oyo State’s traditional institution and played key roles in fostering unity among traditional rulers and political leaders alike.
Tributes are already pouring in from dignitaries, political leaders, and citizens mourning the loss of a monarch described as “a father to all.”
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in due course by the Olubadan-in-Council.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
